Before reading your comment I was thinking that Baldie seemed like a great mentor -- has great technical analysis, seems compassionate and empathetic, etc. But your description of how things might go down makes complete sense, so... Maybe there was more cruelty or viscousness in that smirk than I thought...

Also, heartbreaking to see how it seems her dad's death has deeply affected Eren to this day.
