He already served his time..and in the eyes of the law, that balanced things out. Before you say "the laws are unfair"..well, don't blame me, blame the folks who think retributive justice is cruel and unusual.

This is the very first Mami chapter I read as a kid. It left a strong impression on me.
I have to say whoever wrote the description doesn't do the manga justice and might mislead people into thinking this is a happy-go-lucky manga for kids. It's pretty mature, even features some serious themes as can be seen here. I remember one particular chapter touches on the brainwashing of Japanese people in WWII.

The description is mainly translated from the Japanies one. The manga is intended for teen audience. If there are any readers here of such age, I think it brings the issues up rather nicely, be it a work of its time.

This is the first chapter of Esper Mami that doesn't count with good ending. I mean, what good ending?
Letting the old man kill that guy? In formal justice, that guy has gotten into jail, but is it justice for the old man?

While rereading it, at first glance it seems that guy is looking for excuse, especially with the "youngins" thing, but they have a wee bit of point. Is being a biker gang the only way for them to channel their excessive energy? Or the system is being picky with the young ones? This chapter sure doesn't show them in a good light though, not especially when the guy admits he has disliking to the police.
