For some reason I thought arbalist was going to the be the 5th member.
A shit group like this is more fun though, hopefully he'll summon/tame more creatures than the mole.

Calling monk a "killing machine" is quite an overstatement, at least without farming str books, but otherwise not much wrong with your advice.

I'm amused that the starfish swarm didn't turn into that quest where you have to fight waves because you witnessed their little ritual to make a star king.

Thank you for the chapter and the in depth analysis of the translation, as well as the the party comp/gameplay. I disagree on monk being a "killing machine". Due to the nature of etrian odyssey as a franchise, trying to spread your skill points out really hampers your effectiveness. Thus I prefer making monks solo healers.

For this particular party comp you can (kinda) breeze through the entire game just off the back of sovereign's passive healing. For me, I think the most important skill they have access to is ad nihlo to stop enemy buffs and inspire to remove party debuffs. The elemental skills on sovereign are a meme as far as I'm concerned. But I guess if you really want to get an elemental item drop??

For those of you playing at home: I recomend checking out the skill simulator:
https://www.intothelabyrinth.net/etrianodyssey3/skillsim/

This helps you plan out how to allocate skill points, but the MAIN benefit is telling you (mechanically) what every skill in the game does. For example: Ad nihlo scales from 130% to 240% damage based on skill level. (the platonic ideal of a damage skill deal 100% damage, and the damage formula for all damage skills is "the same" so it's easier to just compare the percent value of two skills to each other.)

(Technically the damage formulas for physical and magic skills is different, but it all boils down to the damage percentage modifying that formula. TL;DR: Bigger percentage is better. For more information, check out this let's play walkthrough that goes into all the mechanics of EO3: https://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3720891

You know I like Kazan. Man saw a waifu in Mei-Ling and instantly went into "Must Protect" mode. There's something to admire about that.

Thank you for the translation (I agree with your overall score for this party. I definitely see Fuuka and Celia putting in the most work. I've said my peace about Buccaneers, but access to Hanging is still nice. I've never used a Wilding so I won't speak to that. And Monk is very nice once it gets a subclass, although I never invested in their fist skills. But it might be worthwhile with this party lineup. Cheers).

Them watching the ritual with how the game describes it would be as horrific as it would be kinda funny.

Also RIP no King Starfish fight. But seeing them overcome an Abyssal Death was something I did not expect.
