The coffee scene was weirding me out and I finally realized it's because in general the panels in this are all paced very slowly.
Like I think usually a scene like that would be paced something like:
1. Blonde guy offers coffee, MC says no thanks, blonde guy starts enjoying his coffee
2. Old guy demands coffee
3. Old guy grumbles about blonde guy
4. Blonde guy gives old guy coffee
5. Old guy smugly drinks coffee
6. Old guy realizes something's up with coffee
7. Old guy starts yelling at blonde guy, blonde guy plays dumb
8. Old guy and blonde guy starts fighting
Where each of those points is either a single panel or a cluster of adjacent panels.
Instead the scene is 24 panels with a decent amount of white space between most of them, which drags the scene out and makes it seem like something much more intense should be happening.
