That felt pretty forced, especially since we know our MC has some skills now and can fight somewhat. I get the common "MC saves the damsel" troupe but we are 25+ chapters in and he is on the run so attempting to save her and ultimately failing at that just feels wasted. I would have preferred if he tried to step in but she handles it before he opens his mouth to say anything.
