I never understood the decision to skip this volume initially, and both this manga and the anime did it. With the way it was adapted it went straight from an arc where Sousuke and Chidori were separated to another where they were separated for even longer, this volume at least gives a bit of a breather before the tonal shift the series goes through from the LN volume 7 onwards.
