Nice to see more of the main series after a long time. The "side stories" ended up being so consequential that it was easy to forget that there was a main series since it wasn't getting english releases.

The "side stories" are actually the continuation of the series when it moved from Mikanuji's pixiv to Comic Newtype. Chapter 94 in volume 4 is actually Chapter 1 of the "side stories". I really dislike how dex and tracking sites label them separately when they're not, it's unnecessarily confusing and the entries should just be merged.

The "side stories" are actually the continuation of the series when it moved from Mikanuji's pixiv to Comic Newtype. Chapter 94 in volume 4 is actually Chapter 1 of the "side stories". I really dislike how dex and tracking sites label them separately when they're not, it's unnecessarily confusing and the entries should just be merged.

Yeah, I don't understand why they're split like that, and the naming is a bit misleading. What will happen once we hit chapter 94? If we're splitting them up for whatever reason shouldn't this be called "part 2" at least so people know it's a continuation? I don't know where that naming came from.

It's more complicated than you make it out to be. On Web Newtype, the chapters are clearly numbered and start from 1 and reached 40 as of now. It's written at the bottom of every title page. So it makes sense to consider them a parallel/side story. Posting the first newtype chapter here as "Chapter 94" when it's written "Chapter 1" at the bottom would be weird.

At some point, they were integrated in the volumes, with 4 pages chapters interspersed between them. Volume chapter 94 is chapter 1 of side stories, but chapter 95 isn't chapter 2.

When I started scanlating the series, 3 years ago, the volumes weren't out and "chapter 94" didn't exist. It's rich to come 3 years later second-guessing me. And the original EN scanlation didnt' even reach 94 yet.

Besides, on Web Newtype there are color pages, but in the volumes they've been grayscaled. What would be really "funny" is if someone MTL'd the "side stories" using raws from the volumes (or stole my translation).

I can repost them here eventually (I still have all the files) if someone goes up to 93, but I don't really see the point. It's a slice of life. It's not as if there was a strong continuity between chapters.

Also, this chapter is obvious MTL and typesetting is trash. We live in the era of "with AI everyone is a scanlator".

But since Windyfall more or less dropped it, and I don't plan on doing the missing chapters (I only redid 1-24 for Dynasty in the aftermath of the Binbou affair), you'll have to be happy with that or buy the official EN version.

I know how it started but they were never designated as "side stories." The naming and description are my main issues. It was always a continuation but started from "chapter 1" since that's the start of the series with their publication." Side stories," is unintentionally misleading and was from the start.

The volumes have included these chapters since 2021. Is there no way to update titles of series? I'm not familiar with how Mangadex or even Dynasty handle that. I don't think adding those chapters here would be necessary.

As for your accusations: I had this issue from day one. Others commented such here and on dynasty as well. I guess they got buried. I'm not sure what "calling out" means. I didn't mention you and didn't even remember you were involved. It's just something that needs more clarification so people understand that the "side series" isn't actually side content. I don't know that everyone understands that even now.

I'd say the original English translation is not bad to the point of needing experts (aka good scanlators) to do it, so yes, it's better if you work on other titles and those who want to read a decent version go with the official one. And more than Windyfall dropping the series, it has been benign neglect, since they lack staff (Tosiaki tosses out translations and whoever wants work with them edits them). Right now it's just Alterist and other hands for Houkago and Insomnia for other doujinshi. And collabs.
