Gaiapolis.... I feel like I've seen the name here and there over the years. Made me curious so I did a bit of reading and watched some footage of both the arcade game along with the NES bootleg. It reminds me a little of Capcom's Dungeons & Dragons arcade games. Looks like a fun adventure that made some waves in the Japanese arcade scene back in those heady, early 90's. The bootleg's music kind of grated on me after a bit though - but then that's the nature of these bootlegs lol.

Ah well, it was a nice bit of nostalgia. Nothing ground breaking or particularly compelling, it is a 90's game based manga after all, and the story likely has as much depth as a puddle of water, but the artwork is solid and Elaine has a nice butt. What more can you ask for?

... probably a lot, but this is all we're getting. Cheers on the translation/cleaning efforts.

Thank you @ghostkun for the kind words! It was originally the NES bootleg that introduced me to Gaiapolis. I adore bootleg games for all its weird lawlessness. So while it wasn't the best version, it's really funny that the bootleg was the impetus for this project. And I will admit Elain's butt stuck in my mind the most.

The actual Gaiapolis OST is actually really good, huh? I found the story and writing in this manga a bit simple and stilted at times, but the story in the game paired with music gave it much more depth. I'm not actually sure how the game was received in Japan, but I think overseas it was more of just a solid arcade game. Not more than the sum of its parts, but still a solid game nonetheless. Fingers crossed that Arcade Archives gets to it one day!!!!!!!

Elain actually got a few cameos down the road, most notably in Battle Tryst, a 3D fighter. And in that game, every character got an animated cutscene directed by Mamoru Oshii which is the coolest shit. Half-elf-human-catgirl lives on forever.
