Also, since you mentioned the "proper couple romance series needs a closed ending," I mean, isn't this a proper couple romance? The two girls aren't really competing against each other. The readers want both to have a proper ending, either through alternate endings or a throuple (which is a TERRIBLE idea and crosses over to the high fantasy genre.)
This isn't couple romance, it's clear and obvious love triangle, but with both girls in the same, strong position - and without throuple ending, they ARE competing against each other, even if indirectly. That for me means that the best ending would be the one that acknowledges both of their feelings, so it's the throuple ending that's the best one.

As I wrote before, I don't consider alternative endings "proper ending" in any way, since they just make the romance shallow and interchangable, even open ending is better than "choose whichever you like" - with open ending you can still do the "choose the ending you like" part in your head, but at least it isn't contradicting itself in the manga itself. Also multiple route would just make both girls losers in each other's routes, so it's just two bad endings instead of one.

I think we have very different preferences when it comes to romance endings, basically in reversed order.

Anyone here play Hades 2 (or Hades 1 and looking forward to 2)?

There's a moment in the latest update that's a conversation between Moros and Nemesis Mel overhears. They explain after that they both discovered they have strong romantic and sexual feelings for Mel and are trying to make sure they don't get jealous over each other. Then Mel is just like "That's great and we're gods so who tf cares about monogamy? Who do you think I am, my dad?" 😂.

This just reminds me of that. Except I guess they very much are not gods.

I’ve read quite a few romances and usually there’s someone who loses and I’ve never been one for the polycule route but this manga I want to end in the poly route

I agree that most harems have shallow relationships, but not all. The really special ones that stand out have proper character and bond development. I'd assume we agree that this series is one of them, so as much as I don't care about the really trashy harems and how they end, if they would judiciously and mindfully make alternate endings that each girl deserves (because they both deserve to be with the MC), I would like THAT better than the mangaka spending 5 pages to tell us that he's blueballing us and leaving it "to our interpretation."

Polyamory is high fantasy now? I had no idea that polycules involve literal magic.

The truth is that polyamorous relationships do actually exist in real life. Hell, the author of a fanfic I read has a wife, but is also currently pregnant with their (shared) boyfriend's child (though I think she may have given birth by now).
They may not be nearly as openly common as monogamous relationships, but these types of relationships are an actual thing that happens.

"I want to avoid some sticky love triangle."
The throuple builds itself.

That double gal "seriously otaku-kun" was nuclear devastating
