No experience with my own local cancer or surgery care but they seem to have extras (or maybe its normal procedure) there. Auto massage and stuff, I think the extras kinda help the patient getting better especially the massage for blood flow.

Seeing Siddhartha Mukherjee mentioned came a little out of left field for me lol. I recommend his books to anybody interested! They're long but he's a great scientific communicator, very engaging reads.
By the way, is the second husband the same guy we see in We Are Reproducing?

He is, yes! IIRC they split up between volumes 3 and 4.
