This has been a really good read, I highly recommend it for readers of all* ages and backgrounds
*maybe not those who still giggle at the word sex

I'm coming in at this from the angle of a cancer survivor, and I find it to be a refreshingly optimistic (sarcastic but not cynical) look at the author's experience, with a take on her triumphs, ills, and everything in between. It avoids the sappiness or artificially inflated emotions (which admittedly have their place) of other smaller works, and consequently feels cathartic and (most importantly) real.

I'm not familiar with the author's prior work, but I may have to check it out as she seems to live quite an exciting life!

Glad you're enjoying it! I really recommend We Are Reproducing (although as the translator, I would, I guess, and readers who are allergic to feminism and/or open relationships might want to avoid it). Her default mode is definitely somewhere in between "bluntly unsentimental" and "heavy-lidded irony" even when writing about heavy subjects like cancer here, or things that are usually treated in a much more saccharine way like the birth and raising of her kids in WAR. Minami's Lover is also very good, and recently got a nice hardcover release from Fantagraphics!
