Telling them that you're investigating the Gotos is clearly dumb. He doesn't know if some of the villagers are on the goto's side, and if sabu did offer his own grandkid to the gotos then clearly Sabu has some reason why he has to be loyal to the gotos and obey them so Sabu or the others could easily betray the MC and It will be even worse the more sure they are that the MC is investigating stillbirths and cannibalism.

The MC should have made them back off some other way. they probably weren't prepared to go to far with only suspicions. if he really wanted to he could just play possum and apologise. It would make the MC look bad in front of his wife, but then the villagers would maybe think that he isn't that dangerous if he doesn't have enough pride or honour to defend himself in front of his wife so would take the heat off him.
But tbh even just stone walling their questions they'd probably just leave after a minute or two.

MC is so stupid, he has no concern for his family at all knowing they're a bunch of crazy people who will harm them if he keeps confronting them. The first thing he should do is send them far away if he wants to keep investigating this.

This is no surprise, it's been established before that Daigo is a hothead, just now he was really interested in the case and some retarded villager grabbed his head to find out what he is doing. No way a hothead like him can keep calm. Plus it's never too late to just send your family back to Tokyo or wherever (we know that won't happen because the author needs to add drama, and what better and cheaper way of doing it than having a defenseless mother and defenseless child in a literal cannibal village).
I kind of expected this, and anyway the priest or the woman would have exposed it when asked by the villagers.
Actually if they (the villagers) were not retarded they should have figured it out as soon as the woman stepped out of the car.
