Quite the opposite it seems, if he was, he would have continued. For once, I think the mc had a brain. I might be wrong later, but I think the mc just doesn't know what to do. He knows she has trauma, but he doesn't know how to help. So, unless I'm proven wrong later, I think he's upset he doesn't know what to do.
