He's usually AMF or CMF most of the time

Tsubaki's usually shown as CMF or DMF (in 4-2-3-1 alongside Murakoshi) in the ETU lineups. He afaik has never played AMF for either ETU or the Japan NT. And he rarely scores as a result.

Tsubaki? In japanball he is the volante(dm/cm) in the 4231 of ETU. In both NT and ETU setups someone else plays 10 anyways. Rolewise hes pretty much a b2b. Cant remember any 1st phase contribution but he had that de Jong carry/box arrival

Shimura is very likely based on Yasuhito Endo, the legendary japanese midfielder. He's a Gamba Osaka legend who at his prime was the irreplaceable core for both Gamba and Japan NT. He was known for his passing and calmness on the ball and was also the set piece taker for both Gamba and the NT, also a PK specialist and wore 7 for both of his teams.

You'll find a ton of players in this manga are based on real people, Hanamori is very clearly Shunsuke Nakamura, Jou-san's probably Nagatomo and Ismail is Omar Abdulrahman. Could probably find quite a few more easily if i look deeper into it.

yeah those you mentioned are pretty apparent cause they look like their RL counterpart, but shimura looks nothing like endo so he's kind of a hard one

also i find it interesting that it seems like nakamura's deadly free kicks were a trait seemingly given to his counterpart's rival mochida in the manga. On that note i'm struggling to find out who mochida was based on, he might be a what if version of nakata if he never went abroad i guess, but mostly a completely original character
