IMO Gifuto made a huge mistake here, should have just come clean and told them everything starting from "borrowing" the dude's paint in art class. The fact that he immediately thought of making some shit up says a lot. From here the story can go wildly different ways but I think Kadomi has always had suspicions that Gift is not a decent person at all and she is piling all this pressure on him to pull his "dark side", for lack of a better term, to the surface. Whether that is because Kadomi sees a "kindred spirit" in him or not, only time will tell.
