It's C-CLAYS' 天翔ル娘 / Amakakeru Musume which I'd put up there with Kaga Misaki, Tsugai no Tsubasa, Kantai Otome, and what not. The song focuses on the 5th Carrier Division's Zuikaku...or is there more?

As far as I know there's no TL out there by anyone besides googleT or deepL TLs from ppl in YT comment sections, so there's no official or proper EN title, but the most popular YT upload of it from Mayumi Sugihara titles it "Celestial girl" in video desc. Which I think is pretty good but I'd probably change it to like Celestial...Heavenly...Angelic... or Divine... Daughters or something like that.

Here's what has me in tears by the end and a quick rough translation of the ending from kono jidai kaeru tame... and kaze to nare goukousen... to the end:


Kono jidai kaeru tame inochi wa umareta hazu yo
In order for change to be made in this time (period), life must (first) be born
Kieteii tomoshibi wa doko ni mo nai no
However there are no more (of those bright burning) lights to be found... [iffy about this line]
Kaze to nare gokousen! Ai ni meijirareta otome, ikuoku no kanashimi o sora ni toki hanate
Become the (like the? [divine]) wind, 5th carrier division! (Young) Maidens commanded by love. Holding onto countless sorrows, take off [or release them] into the sky

Become the rain, wiping away those tears you've shed
Owaranai heiwa e to furase amakakeru musume
Towards/For an everlasting peace, descend (from above) [or make it rain] you heavenly daughter...


I think we know what it means by descend or fall from above or making it rain😭 I think it means for them go in a steep dive from high above in the sky, towards the surface of the earth, crashing themselves into an enemy ship 😭


A vid which captures the kaze to nare/become the wind part the best so far is kureson9's black & white MAD at the 3:52 mark.

I know I only said it indirectly references kamikazes, but I guess in general it's about the late-war Japanese airmen/aviators including of the 5th Carrier Division's only remaining Zuikaku, with all 5 of the other og Pearl Harbor attack carriers having been sunk, and Zui's sister Shoukaku most recently sunk.

This might've been a lot, I've been wanting to share this out for a while now. And there's still a lot more context and tiny bits of info that I'd like to add onto the lyrics but they include the rest of the song. So I'll save that for when I actually get to working on this song. That is if somebody doesn't TL Amakakeru Musume by the time around like, shortly after I finish DFL or something.

It always feels unfair how they designed Kuromorine to represent effectively an utter fiction of late war German designs, I've always felt they would have felt more imposing if they had a more mid war feel late mark Pz IVs and IIIs. It feels like there's little skill to just having a bigger gun and driving at the enemy, probably why I always liked Ribbon Warrior.
So I can't wait to see Darj' give'em what for!
