Hi, i'm the only person here reading this manga, nice meeting you

Feels like ayumi is only focusing on the crimson godess and how " inhuman and sureal" she is but the role is not only her, it's also playing akoya who is just a normal peasant girl ( but with a twist) and jumping off a trampoline 16h a day might not be the right way for that.
The role kinda reminds me of swan's lake white swan odette/ black swan odile, its not the same.character but must be performed by the same dancer

Really loved this chapter, it's always great to see Maya get an epiphany about her interpretation of a role, and this time we're really reaching the story's climax! That last page really hurt though ;_;

Hi there! So -- big Glass Mask fan here, and pleased as punch that someone has picked up this manga, even if I haven't caught up to all the new chapters yet. Thank you for the new updates :')

That being said, maybe I need to get on the groove of this manga again, but I'm really turned off by the plotline surrounding Masumi's sickly fiancée. I know, I know... it's an old manga, but still-- such a tired trope. Rather than feel sympathy for her plight, I feel irked by her blind obsession with Masumi whenever she shows up in the story (it's like she realizes he's in love with someone else, yet refuses to come to terms with it?). It also shows us that Masumi's going down the same road his father did (married to someone he doesn't love, obsessed with the actress portraying the Crimson Goddess), which isn't great to see.

I'm also somewhat confused, since I've read online that the author rewrote some parts of the manga, finding that she had focused too much on romance, and wanting the story to be more focused on acting. Does anyone know if this is true?

Finally, I kinda feel like Mrs Tsukikage should've died back then, when she was playing the Crimson Goddess for one final time. Maybe because that's where the scans stopped for a long time, but that scene felt very... final, and seeing her alive after this was a little jarring. At this point, does she really have much else to contribute to the story?

Tsukikage’s whole purpose is to pass the baton to the new Crimson Goddess. She’s meant to choose her successor (even though we all know it’s going to be Maya) and witness the next generation take over. Only then will she fulfill her obligation to Ichiren Ozaki and find a sense of peace. Killing her off earlier would’ve just made the story messier, and give her character an unsatisfying conclusion. I really think she’s essential for the manga’s finale—she’s an important character and a big part of the main cast.

As for Shiori’s subplot, I’m not a fan. It feels misogynistic. It’s hard to feel any sympathy for her because she’s not written with much depth in the first place (compared to Sakurakoji, the male rival). She’s basically just there to stir up drama and force Maya to realize she’s jealous. I hate the misogynistic reactions to her character—Masumi is clearly 100% in the wrong—but they’re also understandable, because Miuchi-sensei wrote her to be unsympathetic on purpose.

I’ve never been a fan of Masumi either, to be honest. His creepy, pedophilic tendencies really bother me, and I never wanted him to end up with Maya. But I would be lying if I said that Miuchi didn’t make their love story ridiculously romantic.
