So I guess the dark hair on Cello was the first clue something was up, then.

Very different vibes than I expected somehow, but this Golden Man was 'cleverer' than Cello. Couple earlier comments he may be a bit of a jerk, if I remember from the early chapters.

If I had to guess, I think this Moroboshi was swapped with Cello in more ways than we think. While this hero organization ended up with Cello, the Dark Side ended up with Moroboshi who I can guess would be more than happy to partake in experiments that would make him stronger.

What is your info from? Is this adapted from something else? Or are there more raws?

There was an early chapter where the original Golden Man said something pretty derogatory to Blues. From what I remember, it was during the fight with that one girl that could cut through space. Blues had a flashback about OG GM saying that “you can’t trust Blues because she’s from the slums.” or something like that and Cello snapped Blues out of it by saying that he trusted her. So there are hints here and there that the old Golden Man was a pos.

Just the "I can't trust Blues" gave it away, blasphemy! How dare he say that about Blues. Literally the sweetest and most caring girl.
