I'm thinking the main character is the culprit. There might even be more victims. The characters he drew were real women that he kidnapped and eventually disposed of. All of this is just a roundabout game because he didn't realize one of his victims had a sister who he felt embodied the more perfect drawing than the real woman he based it off of. His virginity in the story was purely emotional as he never had a real relationship with a woman.

That's an interesting thought... but I don't see it. But the author does seem to be the type that would want a reveal that is like “the perpetrator was right in front of us the whole time”!
