I don't get what Akane's motivation for following the spooky ghost would be. You'd expect her to be like "who cares, I need to find somewhere I can safely look after my baby"
The others have reasons to follow the ghosts but not really Akane.
I can't even remember if the main character from the last manga's unwell sister survived. She did, didn't she ? I'd expect blondy or the journalist to go to her if they wanted to continue investigating the curse rather than going straight to the shrine.
