If you haven’t read the Ushi no Kubi one-shot, the reason Haruo calls it dangerous in this era is because of the internet. If Ushi no Kubi’s story ever goes digital, it’s basically the same as putting SCP-096’s face on the internet

Shidou really does love Haruo. There’s like a 10 year gap between them btw. Back when Shidou was still in high school, Haruo tried to comfort her because she was treated like an outcast for being able to see supernatural stuff, and Natsume calls him a lolicon for it lol. Shidou was really timid back then, so I’m kinda curious how long she’s been doing this job to turn into the person she is now

I also really want to know what year the manga takes place in so I can pin down everyone’s ages and figure out whether Ao could even be in Tsurenai or not. Lets say this manga is set in 2014, then:
Haruo would be 30
Natsume 29
Shidou around 21

I was a bit surprised that Natsume would just leave them to die like that, but then I realized she probably sees them as nobodies. She already lost Arata, so there’s no way she’s letting Haruo die too

Speaking of Arata I think Haruo kinda act like him now, while Shidou has taken on the role Haruo once had with Arata, watching over him like he is his brother. Except in Shidou’s case, Haruo isn’t just someone she looks out for, but someone she loves

I have a feeling Haruo might die in the end. Tomomi used to make these four page manga connected to Hachigatsu, and two of them seemed to hint at it, one of them being this one

Also didn’t expect Kaito to get this much spotlight. The rest of the Second Team basically got wiped out without a fight. As for the box that Kaito has, I have no idea what that is, I never heard any story like that

Some people hate on Ao because he doesn’t really do anything, but realistically, what can he do here? He’s just a powerless high school kid who got dragged into this mess through the messenger scheme

I found out what that box is, it’s Kotoribako (child-taking box), a Japanese horror story about a cursed wooden box filled with the fingertips and umbilical cords of sacrificed children. It was created by an oppressed village as a weapon to take revenge on their oppressors. Once the box comes near a household, it triggers a deadly curse that specifically targets women and children

The strength of the box depends on how many children were sacrificed to create it:
Ippou: 1 child
Nippou: 2 children
Sanpou: 3 children
Shippou: 4 children
Gohou: 5 children
Roppou: 6 children
Chippou: 7 children

In chapter 33, Kaito mentions Shippou, which means that four children were sacrificed to make it

I ended up learning a lot about Japanese horror stories through this manga
