Effort vs reward. Even if you take out all the air in someone's lungs it still takes a bit of time for the brain to die vs just stabbing them in the brain. Also, it's not "air" but oxygen you need to deal with and I'm not sure if wind magic (which is used to control air) can remove the oxygen in your blood delivered to your brain so simply. All in all, it's more trouble than it's worth.

The MC is truly the epitome of a loner. It's not like he would have multiple wives and a bunch of solid friends and allies always accompanying him. Even the king favours him. As a true loner, he's now building and developing a new fief for himself and the people that will be living there, naturally all the time working together with his wives and allies. There has never been a more loner person than the MC.

An unknown price reduction which could be for all we know extremely small vs the combined time he'll have to wait to suffocate them all which could have been spent to, guess what, kill more monsters. More product sold at a slightly lower price, for less effort is a far better idea business wise. It's just plain logic, the more time he has gained the more and more he could have killed.
