I'm wondering what sort of asinine reason the Grandma had to make her a stepmom rather than a maid. Seems like a pretty messed up thing to do to someone who lost his mom at a young age.

Like what even is the mechanism to consider her a stepmom? The dad didn't marry her, so it'd be more like adoptive mom.

She probably noticed his mommy and abandonment issues. Still a bit weird, though.

And apparently she doesn't seem interested to be wed to his father to be his step mother I think she just want to be his step mother because something happened to her and the MC's mother in the past.

judging by that photo I'm gonna guess that his mom cared for her when she was younger and she wanted to return the favour to the Shoutarou now that his mom is dead etc.
