The kuragiri aren't exactly good either though, since the humanoid ones are essentially children who have grownup enough to be self aware that they are living weapons but still too naive to understand what that means. For the time being they're painting everyone in broad shades of black and white probably to allow the MC to retain his naive mentality for a bit longer. Guessing that a bunch of people are going to die and some additional secrets come out that forces the MC to mature and no longer see the world in black and white. They've already started the process with the kuragiri and I expect the same to start with the onmyoji eventually, part of seeing the world in grey is to understand both sides

1. Presumably somewhat high-ranking

It's all a manner of perspective, we've only seen things from the MC's perspective where he's trying to protect his last remaining family so of course the onmyoji are evil as shit. It's pretty clear that the onmyoji in general despise and treat the kuragiri as violent man eating monsters because they ARE violent man eating monsters. MC's experience with the violent deaths of those around him to the kuragiri is mostly limited to hearsay about his parents which combined with the fact that he worked alone to hide Kyuu's existence he never had the opportunity to watch anyone emotionally close to him get violently ripped apart and eaten by kuragiri
From the perspective of these high ranking onmyoji they're clearly mentally broken from having watched a lot of their seniors/juniors and loved ones getting eaten alive. Treating ALL kuragiri as murdering trash even if one of them becomes human is much easier to accept because of the fact that for a kuragiri to become human they must kill and consume a tremendous amount of humans. Ignorance doesn't absolve you of your sins after all. It's just that Kyuu's situation is an outlier among outliers where it never ate humans so to both the MC and the readers this is extremely unfair looking

By "vile pieces of shit", I was more referring to the fact that they are more than okay with killing humans in cold blood, to the point where it's pretty visible that they take pleasure in killing innocents as well as kuragiri
