Leave a like on the raw chapter.
You just know Igarashi's giggling when she puts in lines like 'All our senpais have been wonderful people!'
Even with her Onee-sama persona up, Haruyo's childish side shines through. And you can tell the difference in approach with how cautious Kasumi is towards the letter. While she's hard on herself for not considering the feelings of the 1st sender like Haruyo did, Kasumi took the letter in the first place because she was worried about Yamabe. She's always too hard on herself.

And with the classic 'start of a new volume recap' out of the way, we go all the way back to volume 1 with the long awaited return of the friend gang, the library, and the assistant librarian. Seemingly the first half of a new pairing; I remember her being an early suspect for Haruyo too. I always wondered: if the letters started with someone else, has that person been intercepting and eavesdropping Kasumi and Haruyo's exchanges? Nobody's in a better position than a bored girl hanging around the library.

Well, that was a quick investigation. Well done, Kasumi Holmes, I guess?
Good to be back with our main setting, and to see Kasumi and Haruyo move forward and continue to grow. Excited to see where it's going. Thanks for the translation, notes and analysis!

And so it begins anew.
Kasumi's love language for her onee-sama in this first half continues to rend me. I cannot wait for her to love herself as much as she loves Haruyo, and as much as Haruyo loves her. And it's kinda heartbreaking that she doesn't see it all in herself--the fact she took the letter, almost on impulse, simply to try and alleviate some of the hurt for Yamabe says a lot. So whatever else is going to happen, the continuing journey of Kasumi accepting herself is something I am hanging all my hopes on.

I kinda both hope that The Assistant has, and has not, been peeking in on all the letters going through The Volumes Three. I hope she has, because it would be a wild bit of 3rd Wall action to have a member of the cast be hip to the goings-on of all the others' private and personal moments, and I hope she has not, because it would be a wild bit of 3rd Wall action to have a member of the cast be hip to the goings-on of all the others' private and personal moments.
Having someone within the story possessing the readers' meta-knowledge, even in part, opens up some interesting avenues for how the rest of them all interact and interconnect, but it also puts her in a position to meddle in ways that may not be ideal. If she's a perfect arbiter of "time and place", then that's one thing, but I just dunno how I'd feel about it.

That said, I am interested to see if she did get a response, even if it wasn't Yamabe. Perhaps with a different letter attempt? It really does seem like everyone gets an Other Half, at least at some point in their personal narrative arc, so I can't help but imagine that trend won't break here. I look forward to seeing how Kasumi gets herself roped into it, though.

Thanks for all you do with this series.

Just building off of your thoughts... I wonder if the librarian assistant might've been content just secretly watching more stories like those in the Hana Monogatari novels unfold? If she was the one who wrote the original letter, the directness of the letter (that Haruyo pointed out) could be indicating that the writer was merely curious about class "S" relationships, and not as emotionally invested in the idea of having one (i.e.: lack of fear of rejection). The librarian assistant's narrative arc could then be about her realizing that she does, in fact, wish for a class "S" relationship—not merely interested in class "S" stories—after watching such stories unfold in real-time, and perhaps learning more from Kasumi and Haruyo about what it's like.

I think she may not have been the original writer of the note either

Maybe just someone who read the books and decided not to take action on the note and left it for someone else to find.

But damn, that would mean they probably have known of the pairings since the beginning

Thank you for bundling the extras upload with a chapter upload

I hate getting notified of “just the extras” upload, it’s such a tease. Makes me so mad I could twist my pet hamster in half

Was curious how they were going to progress things with everything wrapped, glad they didn’t pull a “Oops, did you check the third volume, a new letter goose chase!” and took a bit more creative approach at moving things forward. Many mangaka would have opted for the more predictable, boring, other option.

Oh? I thought that the sender of Yamabe's letter would already be graduated, but that doesn't seem to be the case. In fact, if she was a year younger than Yamabe it would make complete sense for her to still be a 3rd year! I was thinking all this time she was older, or the same age as Yamabe. You tricked me again author...! :meguupog:

I wonder if the library senpai hair being short an indication of something... like what Haruyo did with her hair.
