"I'm thinking it'll be more to prove he's not a "special case" but actually is the right person to be beside her. I'm sure that's something like how it'll be explained. But this stuff makes no sense, so who knows." She likes these little tests, and it could be a way to show how different Shirota is from a real challenger who also knows Takamine's secret.

Well, this all can't go anywhere, no matter what. The idea behind the manga and its comedy is that Takamine has a huge crush on Shirota and wants him by her side. She's not going to let him go, and she definitely doesn't want this other person in the way. Even if he "loses," Takamine would do something to make him win. I don't think we're meant to believe there is any world where she just gives up on her crush. The only thing to figure out is why she's letting this game play out at all.

Finally this farce of a duel is over. Now takamine can pull out whatever bullshit she wants to declare shirota the winner and we can move on from this arc. Probably something about understanding her better while shinagashi san used underhanded tricks or whatever, i dont really care since none of the excuses shes gonna pull would make up for the bullshit shes putting him through.

Ive made my grievances with takamine known plenty already but i think i just now noticed that i cant recall her ever even apologizing to him. Not in a way that he could hear anyways, and there have been a plethora of things to apologize even before this arc.

Its such an unbalanced dynamic because she constantly chastizes him for perceived mistakes but is not willing to offer her own apologies(likely because she is clinically insane and sees herself as pefect for some reason we still dont know). And to top it off, shes willing to make concessions to others, why just this arc she negotiated with a criminal that should be rotting in jail! But not shirota, never shirota. After all, he has the honor of being her slave and have her pay attention to him. Surely thats all anyone could want, right?

I pity the guy, i really do.

So...it's just me reading the series normally? Not like I'm think it's a masterpiece or anything but I don't think this is even that entertaining to hate read tbh, or feel 'sunk cost', tho tbf hate reading for me is alien because I can only feel hate to something that I thought was good otherwise I just drop it and this really doesn't seem the case for most people.

Not saying that you can't criticize but it's kinda wild for me that people read something that show things they don't like, see no signs of progress and still continue reading hoping for the impossible or just feel annoyed.
