kinda fitting that Ippo goes out the way he took out so many others on the national stage

a ridiculously-strong punch from a losing position

Old ah comment but Ippo was getting his assed kicked the whole fight. He should’ve never been on the world stage, the retirement arc in retrospect has really done wonders for his boxing.
like bro what do you expect from ippo his style is just too risky

Unfortunately this loss was expected at this point. Kamogawa and Ippo's risky ass fighting style was something the readers called out and memed for years and this fight exemplified the heights and the limits it could reach.
It was something mentioned by the fighters too and seen during all of Ippo's recent hard ass wins too. Just not something that should be competing at the world level, not to discount Ippo's own skills either. We saw many great technical exchanges from Ippo during this fight too adapting to his opponent and keeping up with his counters, but we all knew it couldn't have gone on like this for too much longer.

I'm honestly astonished Ippo managed to turn it into a slugfest in the end too and there were honestly moments in the fight that really did make you think Ippo could go the distance but we'll need some real growth from our boy from here on if we want to see him progress to the world properly.
