Good thing the author didn't leave us hanging with mysteries completely but explained some things already. It might be tricky to find a good balance between slowly resolving everything to not keep us permanently blueballed, yet leaving enough questions open to have us still intrigued.

Characters seem interesting. I like that the male MC isn't the passive doormat she hoped for, creating room for more fun interactions.

Okay, this is interesting: I'm actually really surprised to say so. At first glance this is your basic "fake a marriage to fool the (grand)parents", but the MC isn't just going along with an unreasonable situation and the situation actually doesn't seem that unreasonable or terrible. From the setup I expected at least his family to be kinda mean to him, but they aren't. Those were some nice parting words from the brothers too. His internal monologue called him useless, but it seems to go a little deeper than that. That feels true for everything here. In theory we have the basic puzzle pieces and a rudimentary solve: she wanted a vegetable Husband to get out of starting a succession dispute that might lead to factions, internal strife, and even a civil war. Okay, but the MC isn't really a vegetable? She could've picked some lazy and fat and dumb greedy noble and been done with it. She could've picked someone charmed and enthralled by her (the Manga sets her up as very beautiful and someone many people admire). Instead she went for seemingly a random person whom she even paid for and the Manga makes it out that there's some reason why (even if that just turns out to be the "secret childhood friends"). I don't feel lost but there's interesting mysteries to solve to keep my reading and the characters feel human enough (not too perfect or too infuriating) that I'm not against reading more.

Oh wow, talk about a late adaptation, as this WN is several years old now. (No clue if it ever got an LN)

I remember reading it from start to finish back when S1 of The Quintessential Quintuplets aired, and by then it had already been running for a couple of years.

I really hope it gets a full adaptation, since I remember the story being fun, especially with how the main couple develops, though it did have some marks of a rookie writer, so a good editor could really make it shine.

What a good start, to give them a bad start! Two important foundations to this story- these characters are not who they seem, and there is more to this marriage than meets the eye. Some of the foreshadowing isn't hiding much. I think Edith clearly wants to keep Kyle in the dark so he can avoid whatever noble schemes might try to harm him. And Kyle is clearly a wizard, smarter and more capable than Edith bargained for.

It's such a promising premise that as they uncover more about each other and the stakes force them to rely on each other, they will slowly fall in love for real. That's a multi-course meal.

Love the back and forth between the leads, really like how the MC while inferior to her still actively trying to understand situation and not be just used
Always wanted a Knight tall girl romance where she is more dominant but the MC isn't a complete push over, this one looks promising!

So, he is a wizard. That explains why he was reading all day long back home.

Even if she married him to avoid becoming the queen, it very much looks like she has still got plenty of plans, if not schemes.
I guess the wizarding age requirements are different in a fantasy world! :dogkek:
