Huh, I've been watching animal slaughtering during eid al adha for more than a few times but this is the first time I heard about animal head facing Ka'baa.

I looked it up and turns out it is Sunnah (recommended), not obligatory. However, sunnah doesn't mean that you could just do it when you felt like it, but rather you should've done it if it was possible. Still, I don't think head facing Ka'baa should be written in the regulation for halal meat though, since that implies we make some meat that supposed to be halal to be haram and I don't think that's allowed.

This must be informative for non muslims, though. I saw too many of them thought that halal is only a matter of type of meat and not how it was slaughtered.
