Wasn't sure, looking at the description, but I thought eh, Lovely Strange Dark did it, I'll give it a shot. And it's interesting! Thanks LSD! Uh, that didn't sound quite like I meant it to . . .
A unique and heartwarming about ordinary people living ordinary lives and trying to connect with family, hardly earthshattering but very well done. Would recommend to anyone looking for something warm and bite sized to read.
I could have done without the faint hints of romantic subtext that pop up here and there but I can acknowledge that it's artistically appropriate for the muddled-but-overall-happy mood going on.
Still, I had to grit my teeth a bit in a couple pages of the last chapter. It's not so much the facts of anything that happened, just the mood; your mileage may vary.
I'm not saying you couldn't sell me on such a romance; just that I wasn't sold on it—everyone involved is old enough to make their own decisions and all—it just seems like it would be awkward as hell, frankly.
Still, this is actually quite good, even heartwarming, despite my griping.
