Thanks for the chapter! it's nice that the grand daughter and mother in law is on her side, disappointing that her son is laughing at her even tho it's behind her back because i'm sure she hid a lot of things from them but you'd think a young kid would 'observe' and realize some things but i guess that's what the grand daughters flashbacks are for

It returns! It’s a holiday miracle
Yeah shame total amount is short I think we’re halfway thru but hopefully this sparks an older women yuri renaissance if not the same artist doing more stories in the same universe like a spinoff of that married couple(id even be fine with a slice of life bonus extras if that elderly band too)

A hundred years after an authors death seems excessive but it wouldn’t put it past me for a school to be uptight but I’d think more students would be interested in things more recent, if not assigning a student to pick a more recent writer/pick randomly from some bookstore so there aren’t thousands of online reviews to choose from lol

lol that teacher seems quite fun

Oof was the summary always like that? I know the husband probably wasn’t ideal even if the grandma was fully straight but “abusive” seems like a bit strong of a word

I don't know who changed it, but it definitely wasn't "abusive" last I saw. It was certainly an unhealthy relationship, but one built upon societal norms, which is entirely what the story is trying to examine.

MangaUpdates summary: The manga centers on Hanayo, an elderly woman whose husband of many years has only recently died. After finishing a Buddhist service for her husband, she finds herself walking out in town alone for the first time in a long time. She stumbles onto a cosmetics store, and meets a beautiful woman named Yoshiko Doujima, and falls in love at first sight. Hanayo had long given up on makeup after her husband nagged her about it, but putting some on with Yoshiko's help brightens her heart

I went ahead and wrote an "information to correct" report. Hopefully someone will change it but we will see.

Because as far as I know there is no abuse, even in the later chapters. I could be wrong but for now there is nothing like you all said.

It's so refreshing reading this series. Though the emotional abuse from her husband flashing in and out breaks my heart.

I think I only read a couple chapters when it was first releasing but delight to catch up now.

But man its so sad that even her own son is parroting the awful stuff conservative JP society forces on women, I don't understand how you can be a modern person and not think someone would use a tablet for a ton of different things (my parents use them for watching YouTube but plenty of folks use it for books or audio books)

The professor is such a gentle breath of fresh air, really hoping her grandson isn't like his dad though. Hoping he's learnt well from his mum and big sister.

Thanks for the tl!

Hanayo and Yoshiko are of course an excellent pair, but I'm also impressed with the supporting cast; the way they help us get to know these two from so many different angles and make their world feel alive. I tend to find the execution of nominally straight supporting characters in yuri manga kind of boring, but this is one of those series where they have a real spark of life to them too. (The Moon on a Rainy Night is another one.) Even Hanayo's dumbass son is shitty in a way that makes me a little curious, which is not something I expected to say.

I changed it because it used to say something like “to cope with the death of her husband” which honestly annoyed me so much; she doesn’t grieve in the slightest for him, and it’s quite clear that his death was a relief. It’s better now than it was; but I’m open to changing it further. The one from MangaUpdates looks good.

I'd argue that verbal/emotional abuse is still very much abuse and in a lot of ways it's just as bad as the physical form. She was belittled and chastised on a daily basis for her entire married life, to the point where even the son is doing it now. That's pretty heavy stuff and her getting her own life back is the main driving point for litterally the entire story.
