Fun fact RE: the word "anyhow" and strange ways to write it:
The usual "anyway", that being 'tonikaku', is generally written とにかく, but in the cases where it's written with kanji (which is a fairly rare thing to do), it's written 兎に角, or sometimes lengthened to 兎にも角にも--i.e., it uses the same kanji as the 'tokaku' (兎角) which Daimon-sensei uses here. I'm not sure on the etymology and which came first, but...
The things you learn from reading VNs that like using flowery language, I suppose.
