It is that time of year again :meguupog: the yuri couples are frolicking in the fields, the cat girls are singing in the trees, the little gay white haired shota boys are building nests at the corner of the house and you have to call pest control for the fifth time. Ah, it is midsummers eve, the day of fertility!

Since before recorded history it has been tradition to raise these poles clad in leaves with wreathes on the side, and at least in my part of the north we dance in a circle around them and sing a song where we make fun of frogs for not having ears or tails. Stupid frogs :meguusmug:

And of course as is implied by the whole theme, we confess to our sweetheart!! (and/or go further than that)

Who are you confessing to this year, forum?

I'll go first!

Hatori Chise

It was kind of weird when I found her because red hair + green eyes + pony tail had been something I had been using a lot as motif while painting. Then she pops up and not only has a great story and characterization, but also has an absolutely amazing voice actor in the anime

CHISE, MARRY MEEEE!! I'LL BE YOUR WAIFU FOR LAIFU AAAAAAA :qq:

The fuck? I was under the impression that midsummer was all about burning the tourists.
No no, that's part of it (along with making fun of "frogs" i.e. "the French"), but the celebration in and of itself is all about love. You'll sometimes see poles that has several wreathes erected-- those represent the married couples present

I see, I am gonna erect a cross and call it midriffsummer.
Here is a non-gay white haired man for the midriff.
