It’s true about Hokkaido! You see it at like summer festival stalls, the sign will say yakitori but they’ll have pork. Mostly they have both these days, various skewered meats.

I remove it from the skewer if my dining group is sharing (I.e a skewer was ordered out of curiosity, there aren't enough skewers for each person) but otherwise I eat off the stick

My absolute favorite type of cooking shows is when the host gets increasingly sloshed sipping on wine while cooking
Eating from the skewer is fun. When you take it off the skewer it's no longer special.

Usually they stick to the skewers and difficult to remove unless using teeth, so I always just eat directly

I went back and looked at the raws and it actually only says she saw it on television as a child, not on television aimed at children. Don't know how I made that mistake, but I've fixed it now. Doesn't make any sense and I should've caught it.

Regular reminder that JP stoves are cooler purely by the presence of the inbuilt fish grill.

also for skewers, I’m a mixbag. I mostly eat it off the stick but sometimes it’s more practical to get it off the stick (eg: broken stick, stick is very dirty/oily and I don’t wanna dirty my hands).
