The fact that this manga has changed and/or added characters doesn't bother me as it use to, in the WN or LN (can't remember which) of Ovetlord doesn't have Albedo, which is had to imagine after watching the anime.

Because this happens IRL all the time; a manager or supervisor, hell even CEOs who have no clue who is not and just fires or promotes everyone based off arbitrary performance metrics.

That being said, it's also hard to determine how valuable someone is without some kind of standard, or inordinate amount of time watching an individual work.

i think for me, in that case, i feel like a lot of those people actually notice if someone is talented and they just bring down said person confidence so that they can manipulate the person for their own benefit

i don't hate this story, but sometimes it makes me wonder, why the heck almost all titles with setting like these, the "antagonist" always thought the MC is powerless even after seeing what they're capable of, like, "u can't see or something?"
