The original ending had boxer crying too, the author might have made Arisu lose just to fit the picture lol

But yeah he was supposedly an expert player, seeing him losing is unexpected

I feel like this manga has continued to get better and better ever since the flashback arc. The start of this series felt kind of meh, but now I feel like this is every bit as good as the first high score girl and I have genuinely grown to enjoy the new characters alongside the growth they have been going through.
