Southern Americans may be more openly proud about their bigotry, but there's still a lot of homophobia in Japan and Japanese lgbt people still get excluded in a lot of ways, although a least on the legal side things seem to be looking slightly better with some higher courts ruling that the gay marriage ban is unconstitutional
