Could also be missing the 1 in the beginning, making it a 12mm instead, almost equivalent to a bullet like a .50 cal.

Whatever the intended ammunition size is, imagine when the Orcs start getting self-loading guns. 12mm for the average rifleman, 20mm for machine guns. Everything will be bigger!

This manga is very interesting and the premise is fresh.

I have one problem with it though. The elf characters all look very similar to one another and I have a hard time distinguish who is who. Wish the author made the differences more noticeable.

My thoughts exactly. Note that they are using single-shot rifles, which puts it closer to the Franco-Prussian war era (the manga refers to the rifles as Gev.74). Rifles of that era fired black powder cartridges of around 11mm caliber, like the Martini-Henry or Springfield model 1884.
Magazine fed bolt action rifles are the standard by WWI.

The Orcsen Gew 74 looks like it’s based on the German Gew 71 which fired a 11.15mm round, so it’s probably supposed to be 22mm, seeing as the comparison picture showed it being about twice the size of a comparable human or elf rifle
