As weak as Haruka was when he left the village (and as stupid as this scene is once you realize that) this scene is still better character development for him than what most other mediocre isekai protags get throughout their entire series.

Still a 7/10 but without this chapter it'd be a 6.

I mean good on them for making the ruined village a plot beat??? I mean wasn't it glossed over for comedic effect when he was looking for the nerd group? ( could be remembering wrong )

Incredibly half assed.

Quarter assed even, it's like the writer completely forgot how shit-weak Haruka was when he moved into the forest.
Not.. really...?
I remember that chapter, cos it pissed me off.

He didn't give a single shit.

He was able to defeat the monsters, and had done so multiple times before, and he just watched the village get destroyed, AND LAUGHED ABOUT IT.

He decided the villagers were "stupid idiots" because they talked to him while he was ignoring them, and then laughed about how he didn't care that the village was being destroyed; "tee hee, not my problem, lol"

The o ly part the author got wrong here is that the MC actually pretends to give a shit, and is making things up about the village.

He could, but didn't try to, save it; didn't care a bit that it was destroyed.

Now he's pretending it wasn't his fault, and probably just doing so because Market Nee-san is watching him.

I got confused and went back to see wft was this village, he hinted this was when he was worried with fighting Tanaka, so it must be somewhere before chapter 30.

After going back my guess it is the already destroyed village that appears in chapter 23 page 9. And in the manga, I don't know the novel, the village is already in ruins and he was searching for his classmates so he just went ahead.

This whole guilt trip in this chapter was honestly... pointless.

Also, in chapter 37 he kills a bunch of orcs that were destroying the villages on his way to the labyrinth of Angelica's arc. So he kinda avenged them I guess 😅
