Not to bring taeho into it (i legally have to bring him up at any given opportunity) but hmmm....the s1 epilogue hinted that soonjung and taeho would be together in the end but at this rate i dont think it will develop properly. Looking back it really only hinted that they were a match but keep missing each other.

ikwym, the pacing has always been a huge hit or miss for ppl, and continues to be the series' #1 criticism, even tho i know thats what the duo meant for it to be (a slow-paced, slice of life work). but i really, really hope they take their time to develop everything and give us a satisfactory end bc theyve spent 6 years on this series!!

szn 1 was 52 chs long, szn 2 was 113 chs long, and szn 3 was 92 chs long, so i think we'd still have at least 50+ chs to go, though i'm assuming (and hoping) it'd be closer to 100, given the most recent szns.

now that im rereading each season's epilogues, there usually included a note of a break or the authors' thoughts at the end, but since 257 didnt have any of that, i feel lost LOL. are they on break or what 😭

and omg i was wondering what they were gna do with wooshin. he seemed to be such a huge part of the last two szns and now its like gaeul's one action was the end all be all for hongshi? (fwiw, i know it wont be that easy, so i hope they develop it at least a little more to make it show that hongshi has grown aside from his relationship w gaeul)

Yessss, I read 252 and the comments were wild LMAO. I think a few hit it on the head though, it's not that the chapters are short but there is no progression so it feels like ....where's the content? I think it also has to do with how long HLM has been going on like.....6 years is a long time! I was trying to find the words but you said it- I just hope for a satisfying end to 6 years!

Omg i also worked out the seasons lengths like that lol. Yeah, it's the final season so I wouldn't be surprised if it were closer to 100 because theres so much to cover.....but i also wouldnt be surprised if they just did a 50 chapter wrap up and rushed it lol.

Thats exactly what i mean, like the wooshin buildup took foreverrrr, hyesung dedicated himself to helping hongshi for years and then gaeul did her thing and WOOSH, all done lol. It was right place right time right person for hongshi, but poor hyesung who was this man's mother father therapist and backbone for all those years LMAO. I'm just afraid that the rest of the story will get that treatment where there are all these problems and misunderstandings that end up miraculously getting resolved in one episode, but i digress 😮‍💨

Dana and Gyeonwoo seem set (and his behavior is soooooo flipping cute now with her istg) but i get the feeling that hongshi and gaeul might have an open ended kinda relationship? Like u know they're gonna end up dating or like a 'wait for me' kinda thing 💀 I just hope its not the end credits and taeho and soonjung show up together after one heart to heart and theyre like oh surprise we're dating now ☺️ like that kinda thing LMAO

i do feel SOO bad for poor hyesung... hes everyone's backbone but doesn't rly have anyone to lean on himself. i wish they didnt make him such a lone wolf bc he deserves love too 😭 and fr, i get the whole right place/right time thing for hongshi/gaeul in the wooshin problem too, but id rly like some personal development from hongshi to be the reason why he overcomes, and not js some power of love rationale i trust theyll dive at least a little deeper into it tho!

YES OH MY GOD, like previously the chapters where the big events happened are done so beautifully and well done. I was re-reading and I was shocked at how freakin well the flow and pace used to be (like literally anything with Dana was absolute perfection.) As time passed, more focus was placed on the slice of life moments in between and build up, instead of the moments itself. I think after soonjung confessed things as a whole started to drag for everyone. The pacing just really took a dive and it lost the freshness that HLM used to have imo. I wonder if I hadn't got attached if I would keep reading or have gotten frustrated by now. Fr one of the comments I saw was one that was like "I started reading hongshi in middle school and I'm about to start applying for colleges" I was like yo DAMN 😭. I myself ditched it in the beginning just from how many episodes there were already and there was no particular plot. By chance some time later I clicked on a random chapter and saw Taeho and Soonjung and I'm so wrong for this but I thought Taeho was a girl 😅 he was too pretty plsssss. but Soonjung seemed tall and I literally read anything and everything with tall female characters so I went to the next ch and saw that Taeho was a dude and apparently the tall girl's loveline I started reading immediately, tall girl x short guy is my mortal weakness LMAOOOOO (it's also how I found Their Ark thru Eugene and Gina lol, also how I found why dont i have anyone by my side bc in the og cover where they're kids, she's taller but they catfished me on that one bc my guy is huge post time skip lol) I fell so hard for Taeho's personality but after all this nonsense I'm sooooo tired LMAO. Hyesung is really da best

WHAT STOOOOOOP DON'T GIVE ME HOPE LIKE THISSSSSS, yo the s4 teaser comes out in a month, im already setting a countdown for it LOL, you lucky cat you, seeing it before the rest of us !!

Tbf the author really defies expectations and goes against the grain for the 'webtoon' standard, ur right!! I entertained the thought that there would be more than 100 chapters for s4 but with one ep a week that's more than another two years 💀 hopefully we get some oldschool hongshi eps where it's really well paced and productive. Things can wrap up nicely in 50 chapters if it's well done i think

Tbh i think hyesung is the platonic love type. There's so much shipping and speculation i see around hyesung x hongshi and it kiiiinda makes me.....?? Idk??? Like if it is romantic love and this man is going through all this then I will cry FOR him, but I don't like putting romance where there is none. I felt like hongshi was a brother to him but idk if it's gonna go the unrequited route (pls no thats too harsh for hyesung 😭) i see some hyesung x gaeul shippers, saying that the reason they butt heads is because khs is jealous of hongshi (or alternatively that khs is jealous of gaeul) and tbh i can see hyesung x hongshi but gaeul and hyesung have NO chemistry to me lmaoooo. I thought khs and dana had a little sumn but they give more sibling energy. I feel like soonjung is the only one he treated like a girl girl iykwim 👀 before all this haesol stuff i wanted hyesung to get upset and go for the steal (still do smh) hyesung deadass makes taeho's confused self look like a brat lol. I just hope its not hongshi x hyesung bc thats way too harsh for hyesung, not when hongshi only sees gaeul like that 😭😭

Yeah they'll dive deeper with wooshin and im sure this modeling thing is also gonna change him too! Honestly in this chapter, I was surprised by Hongshi. He seems a lot more like those two-faced archetypes (where the bubbly carefree pretty boy is actually a snake on the inside lol) but hongshi def had some model behavior in this hahahaha. There are a lot of discrepancies in character due to the author though, particularly in Taeho, but I feel like everyone else had a natural development and it was done really well. Taeho went from the most witty to 'boy wth are u doing?' Thankfully Hongshi seems like he's doing better LOL

Dana and Gyeonwoo have the best story oh my goooood, and they have some seriously solid moments. They didn't feel rushed or dragging and their story was weaved in so well between the other characters that it felt like their time passed the same as ours if that makes sense. Plus, they're hilarious like it's always so entertaining with them 😂. I dare not even call soonjung and taeho a couple 😮‍💨 mr. Cant we still be friends and then plays with her back and forth for 3 seasons headass 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨 (i say it with love)

But deadass, we're having such an okay time without wooshin, we dont need him here. They can rush that part 😂 we dont need to develop him, no tragic backstory, this isnt wooshin loves me. Let's get our healing and dip shiho ✨️

omg now that i think of it, i think hlm is one of the only series i can recall that has a short ml x tall fl. it rly is rare and hard for authors to pull off without seeming fetishy but hlm does it so well 🥺 i half expected the height to be the reason why taeho couldnt even consider sj's feelings but it hasnt been brought up at all whatsoever, which im kinda thankful for!! theyre looking into so much more beyond just physical appearance

and to your earlier point, i also dont want the series to just end with the couples barely getting together -- id like to see what their relationship develops into AFTER they start dating too!! its what we deserve after years of dedication and reading LOL

i think the two-facedness can be chalked up to hongshi's work mode (aka i dont wanna be here lets get this over with) vs. his everyday mode (cheerful and bubbly) and then theres also his true self (that only comes out when he drinks/in front of gaeul ) he has so much more depth than ppl who drop the series in the beg give him credit for !!! but i agree, taeho pretty much regressed into some clueless ass guy but they wanted him to go thru the 'regret' route i guess...🫠 which is fine if they can wrap it up sometime soon LOL. i still cant forgive taeho for how awkward and immediately turned off he was when he realized soonjung had feelings for her UGH.

YES lmaoooo if you let it drive you crazy, there'll be no end to it. Ig the silver lining is that those high expectations come from the fact that hlm is a really great webtoon pacing aside, and most of the problem seems to come from the drop in progression rather than the actual webtoon itself iykwim. I'm too in deep now though, i NEED to see it through 😂

I've read a few tall fl x short ml manga and it's all either fetish stuff or that playboy x innocent girl who needs a man to make her think shes a woman bs. That's why hlm and to an extent taeho became my number 1 because he was genuinely so lovely to soonjung previously, and the way he stood up for her on the train aaaaaaaa. It still echoes in my head "you were like an angel to me that day" 🥲🥲🥲 ouch, haahah. I also thought he was gonna turn her down because of her height and it would have broken my heart but ...i mean he still broke it but at least it wasnt over height LMAO. Yeah, hongshi's depth and nuance is no joke. Like around chapter 50s when they got into his backstory was crazyyyy. He's so freaking sly and shrewd that you hardly see most of who he actually is past that bubbly exterior he has. He's such a complex character, he reminds me so much of Oikawa from haikyuu lmaoooo. (And hyesung is iwa-chan beloved ofc) omg or kise from knb who is literally a model 💀. I know the writer is a haikyuu fan so thats cute lol

Yeah, hongshi's depth and nuance is no joke. Like around chapter 50s when they got into his backstory was crazyyyy. He's so freaking sly and shrewd that you hardly see most of who he actually is past that bubbly exterior he has. He's such a complex character, he reminds me so much of Oikawa from haikyuu lmaoooo. (And hyesung is iwa-chan beloved ofc) omg or kise from knb who is literally a model 💀. I know the writer is a haikyuu fan so thats cute lol
