this is.... getting very confusing and annoying. I'm feeling like i'm gonna drop it.
Honestly, the fact that other members of the club are not taking this seriously and protecting their youngest members when it
became really bad that Ayame and Mamoru couldn't work at the school irks me a lot. They look like they do not give a fuck about whether Mamoru and Ayame want to do the things that they're doing while both Mamoru and Ayame are too shy to even talk back about it.
This lack of sincerity from the seniors is catastrophic from this point and I don't think I can defend the characters further because back in ch.66 when Ayame confided in her seniors that she'd kissed Mamoru and they do not trust her once and made fun of her for even saying that. Ayame left the arc with little progression to her romantic views because what is meant to be her bravest achievement, the kiss, was not taken seriously at all
Let's not forget about Mamoru being the butt of the joke every time the club wanted him to do something. The movie arc ended with Mamoru being targeted instead, which did divert attention away from the kiss
into Mamoru himself, which is so, so bad for a 15-year-old.
And the romance part of the manga is not doing so great. Mamoru and Ayame's romance is forced by the other club members and the school, skipping away a lot of their natural progression. Back in ch.66, Mamoru wants to kiss Ayame for real
as a diversion for the fact that the film, whose plan was come up with by the grown-up members of the club without a serious input from Mamoru and Ayame, failed to remove unnecessary attention.
So, to recap, we have 2 15-year-olds whose entire friend group do not take them seriously, make up off them all the time and are generally just terrible role models, and no wonder why they're still bumbling science nerds who still cannot decide for themselves what they want to do with their feelings
