This chapter almost made me buy a wok.
When you do buy a wok, buy a carbon steel wok, not a Teflon-coated non-stick wok. One of the main reasons to use a wok is that the thin steel heats up and cools down very fast, allowing rapid heat control. But Teflon starts off-gassing toxic crap when it's too hot. A Teflon wok is not a wok at all!

Tracking your expense and realizing you spent too much money on things you don't need, making you question future purchases, is too relatable... So is buying an expensive item and making up excuses to buy it 😂

There's an immense amount of stuff you can do with leftover random things. Just this week I made a bizarre meal of Thai rice noodles, homemade tempeh in a gravy made with shiitake dashi, and pickled vegetables. Was it amazing? Not at all. Did it use a bunch of stuff I didn't know what else to do with all at once? Absolutely.

Honestly I think it might be coming up on two weeks since I last went to the grocery store? I've had quite a backlog of random leftovers to work through.

Thanks for doing this chapter; i hope another group picks it up soon

woks are actual gamechangers for fried rice

I wonder if they made the irl actor for him cook as well for the more complicated recipes. (tho i wonder how japan feels about that 'minute rice' stuff, they're ok with instant udon/ramen but i can imagine some ramen brands for cups are better quality tan the one we get here)

i understand splurging, it's nice if kenta's able to help but i can imagine some ppl not wanting to deal with it simply hire an accountant/consultant or so lol

Do ppl use hankerchiefs that often? I guess if ur wiping down a station at work that's one thing but with all those "people passing out tissues" as a way to advertise a company i'd just use that or normal tissue paper or so versus kenta having a cloth specifically for his glasses

Tho i would think, unless japan's not really "like that", there'd be some places where you could 'barter' but that's usually like bazaars and like flea market times tho (and if ur friendly enough some ppl recognizing you would give you discounts lol)

What a woman, not once interfering on her man's hobbies and even encouraging them

It is a pretty good hobby, if anything it should be more considered a' life skill' for most ppl to need/have even if not everyone splurges on good utensils and such, but it's not as if kenta's picking up 2-3 new hobbies and dropping them a week later

But if he's still doing YT vids maybe he can be like "money saving/cheap ingredient fried rice" and some of his subscribers would like donate to him or so

okay but fr a wok is a game-changer for stirfry dishes. If you have a high output burner as well? Stirfrying on those is unreal. Knowing how into food they are, a wok is amongst the best decisions they can make

and this chapter hits lol. Now when i'm going for grocery, i'm subconsciously finding lower priced items and pay more attentions to what i can save (like buying whole chicken instead of separate parts), only to then find a really cool cooking item and splurge on it
