@petra If the anime did skip it, it shouldn't have. I know it's slow and can drag a tiny bit but this is where we finally explain Gon's character. He's not necessarily a good person, he's just like his father through and through and only cares about his friends and his interests. Selfish essentially. It just so happens that his selfish reasons tend to be on the side of what most would consider morally good and that's why people have this misconception that he's 'good'.

Oh sure I appreciate the opportunity to touch on Gon's morals, but I don't think as much infodump about methods of authenticating antiques was necessary for it. IIRC the anime cut some of that but kept the Gon morality bit.
The most interesting part for me in this chapter is that he doesn't care or get annoyed that someone is trying to reduce the value of the chest even though it's against his interests.
Of course Killua doesn't seem to care either but I guess Zepairu just doesn't find Killua's seemingly similar reactions as interesting.
