Dude, I thought this was the 3rd part of Chapter 7. But this is still a great romance-centric chapter, and I like that the MC actually wants to know how love works considering his upbringing instead of being a dense beta Japanese male.

I don't want to doubt but...
Ig it's because he's an interesting individual//research subject? She did implant him with a really important subject that kills everyone of it's host & as the one responsible, it's likely she knows the truth. Now whether it's because she wants to be nice to him because he's about to die or she just wants to observe him is up for debate.
Or she is genuinely interested in him.
Why I'm doubting is she was touchy feely with him since day 1, Araya(?) the commander definitely told her about him, she said "I'm excited to finally meet you", was it because she was just excited about his capabilities as being scouted by the commander or because he was about to become Absolute Zeros host is the question.

If you think about it, even if she is genuinely interested, she nearly killed the MC once. Either she deliberately withheld info about how to use his new powers until the first test was about to begin (unlikely based on her reaction), or she just forgot to explain it. A test that would literally determine whether he lived or died. So I’m not even sure if it matters if she’s complicit—either way she massively screwed up and it’s just been kind of ignored? I’m enjoying the series and I actually like their dynamic, but I keep thinking about it with every new chapter because it’s so crazy that it feels like I’m missing something
