Holy cow they skipped almost everything.

Like I explained last time, the "berserk" in this chapter is hysterical strength granted by Evasion Instinct because Kyunwoo could actually have died. Yena tried to dodge the issue by saying it was the repulsive force between Light and Dark mana because how his Gift works is private info she didnt want to reveal.

The mountain climbing test had no restrictions on fighting so there was a huge brawl at the start. The mages just flew overhead until the magic fog completely grounded them. Min Arin was actually in the lead until she had to walk and her abysmal physical fitness is why she didn't take 1st place. Like she is at the level where walking 15 minutes is enough to leave her miserable. Also there was an internal monologue showing her ego and superiority complex. There was also a brief description of the difference between using Spirits like Eunsol and magic like Arin which was speed. Magic has a casting time while commanding a Spirit doesn't, therefore Spirits are able to change things up much faster.

Nam Yuri froze the sea with alchemy as a shortcut. She had no qualms about dropping other examinees into the water and ignored them. She arrived at the finish line smiling while covered in monster blood.

Vehicles were allowed and several people took cars. Haerang is a musclehead so he insisted on walking to the peak with his feet. Kyunwoo and Haneul took a boat. Haneul drove the boat using magic while Kyunwoo cut down monsters that attacked them. Once they reached the mountain, Evasion Instinct helped him avoid traps. Some of them were illusions and distinguishing between real and fake traps was part of this exam. He really wanted to be part of the highest ranking because it confers additional benefits in later exams and in actual enrollment. With no time to lose, he used a trap and magic to cover a ton of ground as seen in the chapter.

Sieun's hint about the next exam was more than just words. She created two water droplets to let Kyunwoo figure it out with a practical example. Some monsters in the next exam can only be defeated with magic and others with physical force.

This is easily one of the most compressed chapters up to this point.

There was also a bit showing off Haneul's ability to analyze other people's spells like the individual components of a flight spell that was skipped. She could also fly but that would mean leaving Kyunwoo behind and while he was okay with it, she wasn't. And in the fog, Kyunwoo kept track of Haneul by looking for her bunny ears.

Cut romance in this chapter: after the Gates test they shared their lunches by a nearby lake. When they entered the dungeon for the mountain climbing, they had to put on screen chokers like during the family reunion arc. Kyunwoo helped Haneul put hers on. When she lifted her hair up, he told her how pretty her neckline was. He joked a bit about how it was like putting a collar on a pet and how he should write her name and his address. Haneul told him to knock it off with the collar talk because it was starting to sound strangely nice. She put his collar on and made it extra tight in retaliation.

Many said that they skipped so many content, is this manhwa in risk of being axed? Or not axed but got limited chapter quotas (i.e.must finish this in less than xx chapters)?

It starts good but now it just feels rushed.

I hope it's because they're trying to skip to the actual school arc as soon as possible, but they're really dropping a ton of the romance along the way.

The mountain climb here was really about introducing the other characters but that can always be done in the actual school arc too. So it's not the worst thing to skip and I suspect they'll skip the next test too. But the fourth test is one where big developments happen and if they cut that I will be sorely disappointed.

So, MC has been watching some TAS videos and decided to use Iframes to skip content.

The speedrun community would be proud.

Someone please tell me the academy where they teach the best of the best doesn't have monsters attacking people as soon as the sun sets. This has to be part of the test right otherwise this school shouldn't even exist if people aren't safe at night.

Hate to break it to you but it was already explained in the hotel chapter that the excess mana released passively from all the Hunters in the city leads to frequent monster outbreaks. Even the most glamorous cities have a dark side to them. Academy City is no exception. In the end, monsters in the city has to happen simply for the original game's plot to work.

Also, there are villains trying to infiltrate the test to keep track of the budding young talent. You can tell who is a villain/monster and who isn't by checking if they have red eyes. It's why Ain face discrimination. They have red eyes therefore they are evil.

We were somehow supposed to glean all that from this poor excuse for translation? The storytelling is falling apart to begin with, but the way-below-average translation has killed what started out as a fun read.
