Looking at it, isnts it quite fucked up that the zombies can just conveniently rise out from the ground? It would make sense if maybe they were just not buried deep enough for the weight to stop them or at least hinder them. Maybe even the lack of cleansing ritual to blow away the bad spirits also caused them to be necromanceable and not weakened.
