It's been less than a year. She was probably searching for her during that time. We can imagine what happened, especially after she explained her plans earlier in the chapter (to throw away her status, honor, etc., and flee). She even mentions the fruits. Based on their earlier convo in the bed, this seems to be all she knew about the town before they seperated. That's the kind of story Mikanuji would write anyway.
