If I recall, her bad end in the original story was because her family incurred a heavy debt and she was sold off to be a bride. It seems here that the debt was self-caused (her parents being impulsive buyers). I always assumed it was because her family got into something shifty but apparently, that's not the case.

Dang. After all MC has done to get money, her mother spent them all and even increased their debt. I seriously don't like her mother now. What do you think would happen afterwards if they got bankrupt and sold the MC as a bride? Pretty sure they would got bankrupt again, and maybe they would sell MC's brothers next.

My thoughts exactly, there's puberty-induced refusal to acknowledge loving your family, and then there's everyone shitting on you for no reason
I feel kinda bad for him.

I mean, I get siblings dissing each other, I also get the old servant liking Shushu more, if she's aware of Shushu being the reason she sill has a job.
But it would be really shitty if the parents are having favorites.

That said, the they don't seem very responsible anyway.

That's what I thought too, but then iirc they kept mentioning the old lady mistaking the two, so maybe it wasn't just teasing.
And the parent part was about the mother not asking him how school was when he first started.

But maybe I was reading too much into it.

What the point of solving the debt issues if the mother is going to keep incurring more since the FL will just fixed it? To treat the older brother badly for comedic value
The moral of the story is getting on my nerves
