At this point in the story, the Holy Empress is looking more and more suspicious to me. Her stated goal is to keep the continent from unifying — how do we know she didn’t instigate absolutely everything from the very start of MC’s history? And how did she come to be at the tower at such an opportune moment? Fishy, fishy, fishy!

And how did she come to be at the tower at such an opportune moment? Fishy, fishy, fishy!
She was originally a conspirator with the magic tower and knew about this. She is a villain on a redemption arc who felt bad for experimenting on kids and decided to save her. Also MC is actually already dead and the current MC is both real and a fake.
