And that's when Tia will let her guard down in an unbelievably plot-convenient but out of character fashion, at which point she'll be kidnapped and dragged off somewhere with improbable ease, where the Empress will stupidly show up in person to gloat, then just in the nick of time Perez will show up with the proverbial cavalry, thus incontrovertibly tying the Empress to crimes she can't get away with.

God I hope the author doesn't follow that tired old cliche, but I've seen near-identical iterations of the same trope so many times now...

they kind of already had this happen w/ the landslide arc. tbh, im with you, i hope they don't rely on cliches.

If the contract REALLY is the same ( other then the date ofc ) why the need to change contract ?
( Or is the guy not able to spot the difference and signed a contract with slightly different terms and/or default payment like a moron? )

Perhaps it was only for the second part, him making a personal loan

The main change is that the contract is not with Clerivan anymore but with the owner of the Pellet company who is Tia - so when Angenas stops paying Tia will claim the territories as fair game with this contract in hand

Amazing.

The Empress thought she made the document useless by having a wrong year and left herself a loophole. Meanwhile, the dumb Angenas lord thought the contract was the focus and thought no further after seeing the document was proper... which was the trap itself.
